Mapping the Terrain of the Undefended Heart
This creative write takes a look at the energetics of intimacy with the self and how to begin mapping your heartwork, ***featuring a bonus exposé: the secret sauce to living a life of rædiance.
The teachings I am about to share with you are adapted from the book Undefended Love.
Let’s get into it…
Undefended love is the emotional intimacy involved in knowing and loving the very core of the Self— with no barrier to obstruct the openness of your heart. To un—defend love is to begin the energetic work (I call it heartwork) of releasing lifelong and lifetimes of defense patterns that shield you from experiencing the juiciest moments of existence.
My intention with this writing is to plant a seed of inspiration that embarks you on a transformational journey where you are able to reach a level of openheartedness and emotional honesty that permits you to live the fullest, most rædiant life.
How and why is the heart defended, you ask?
If you haven’t heard the programming story yet, it goes a little something like… throughout your developmental years (ages 0-14) you were taught or “programmed” how to think, act, feel, and essentially love. The result that plagues the majority of humans on this planet is a caged heart fueled by fear that amounts to a dull, lackluster life.
How can I begin to take down the barriers around my heart, you ask?
Step #1: Awareness.
You have reached the first step of undefending the heart. Congratulations!
Awareness. To become undefended we must recognize the complexities of our emotional protection armor. By becoming aware of our unresolved past heart traumas, we can find purpose in living from an expanded, unbounded heart space with a full tap on our intuitive knowing.
Step #2: The two E’s— Ego and Essence.
The second step makes a distinction between your ego and your essence. Before diving into the two E’s, I want to share with you a metaphor that will clear up your understanding of ego and essence…
Poonja, a holy man who lived in India, illustrated the distinction between ego and essence by asking you to imagine 3 figurines all made of solid gold, each weighing the same. One figurine is a nun, another is a soldier, and the third is a mother holding a baby. If we were to melt them down, we would receive an equal amount of gold from each figurine. Your essence is pure gold and your ego is your identity. He said we are all pure gold cast into different forms. Each of us are fundamentally good; however, we all get caught up relating with the world from a masked identity.
Step 2 is important because it maps the start and end point of undefended love by providing the background of where we can begin to look into the work needed to be done to take down the barriers encapsulating the heart.
The two E’s— Ego and Essence. Your ego is your personality, your mask, the defense structured to protect you from uncontrollable, energetically abrasive experiences. Your essence is your most authentic self, the core of your soul’s desires. I want to note that I am not saying your ego is a bad thing— we need our ego! We are born into this world with our own unique essence and from that point on our essence develops barrier after barrier creating the layers of the ego. The aim of the work is to get back in touch with our pure essence by peeling back the ego layers.
Step #3: Seek Support.
If you are interested in this heartwork, please pick up the book Undefended Love or reach out to me— I am happy to offer guidance :).
A rædiant life is experienced when we relate from the gold of who we are.
Mapping the terrain of the undefended heart is not an easy journey and it requires a courageous heart and guarantees an ever expanding state of your ooey gooey essence. It is an alchemical process where we transform a leaded heart into a heart of gold.
I hope to guide you along the mapping of your heartwork where you begin to shift and release old, limiting energetic patterns by aligning with your authentic essence that permits you to live your fullest, most rædiant life.

BONUS** Exposing the secrets to living a life of rædiance!
These are my top two secrets. Lean into them.
Secret #1: Surrender Through Expansion. The gift of surrenderence (a word I created meaning the experience of surrendering) allows you to, piece-by-piece, take down the armor of your heart to achieve unbounded, heart centered expansion.
Secret #2: Strength in Softness. In my second secret, I gift you the best exercise for your heart and no, it doesn’t involve cardio.. building the strength to be soft is the new sexy. Like any exercise, the best results are achieved with lots of practice. Strengthening the heart muscle to become soft seems daunting at first, but I promise strength training targeted towards softening the heart is the magic sauce that ushers you closer to living a life of rædiance with a wide open heart.
