To Touch

Touch is such a valuable thing to us. I realized this while I was on my mat + accidentally bumped into the yogi next to me. My first reaction was to say “I’m sorry” like I was stealing something precious from her. Which got me thinking how often we find ourselves apologizing for accidentally touching, and this led me to explore the relationship between touching, feeling and connecting.

As children, we are programmed to believe that to touch something could be potentially bad or dangerous, like “don’t touch that” or “ask if you can touch.” I understand the fundamentals of this and that it is important in so many situations, but to what extent did that programming carry over and seep into the ways in which we feel.

Have we restricted the potential of feeling because we are imprinted to believe that to do so might end up hurting us in the end?

Imagine expanding the threshold of the sensation to feel so much so that you could feel something you have never felt before.

So many of us have lost connection with simply feeling... more. Instead, we do anything we possibly can to numb or suppress feeling, especially “bad” feelings. In contrast, we participate in things that enhance feelings of euphoria. Those feelings that make us feel unbounded, limitless, a sense of freedom like sex or drugs. Like jumping off a cliff to dive into the giant ocean. Like flowing through a really powerful yoga class or driving down a scenic road with the windows down, a good song, & the breeze on your skin. Falling in love or seeing your new born baby for the first time. Like the state of being during a deep meditation or anything that makes you feel truly alive

The idea is that now more than ever, we are plagued with fear. The people of this world are existing under the belief that we should fear the sense of feeling, and at the root of that is connection.

What is available to you if you remove the veil of fear that holds you back from deeply feeling and connecting. Trust me when I tell you that on the other side of this fear... is a rædiant kinda life.

Connection expands the sensations of existence to its entirety.

These are my thoughts. I hope they serve you in some way.

Xx.
